With more than 20 years of experience in the technology industry and various leadership roles within Microsoft, Gladstone’s passion for technology, new challenges, learning, is greater than ever. He leads the National Microsoft Technology Centers (MTG), a state-of-the-art collaborative environment to provide customers access to world-class expertise, enabling them to envision, immerse, design, and build out solutions that meet their emerging business needs. In addition, he holds a role as a Practice Director in the Microsoft Services Organization, responsible for the business leadership and sales of Consulting and Support solutions. He also leads the National Enterprise Specialist Sales Team at Microsoft.

Prior to his current role at Microsoft, he was a valued member of the Canadian Leadership team and the Vice-President of the Microsoft Canada Developer & Platform Evangelism (DPE) Group. In these two roles, he helped Canadian Developers, IT professionals, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and students create innovations using the Microsoft platform as the tool.

Chris currently heads the Global BRM practice for Magna International. Jason Falbo

Chief Technology Officer at Mircom

Jason FalboJason is the chief technology officer (CTO) at Mircom, Canada's most successful intelligent building solutions provider. Jason is a software engineering graduate from University of Western Ontario, and has obtained his MBA at a joint program offered by “Bocconi University” in Milan and “UCLA” in Los Angeles.

Jason has led the design and development of multiple successful products in the domains of fire, security, and automation.  Mircom designs, manufactures and distributes smart building products to over 100 countries around the world in addition to a branch network  for sales and service across North America.

Jason is involved in academia as well as industry.  He currently serves as “Executive in Residence” at George Brown College in Toronto, is a member of the industry advisory board for the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University and he is working towards his Ph.D in advanced networking at Western University in London, Ontario. Jason’s research interests including wired or wireless network optimization, and the Building Internet of Things (BIOT).

Jason Tham

As the heartbeat and driving force behind Nulogy, Jason spearheads the company’s strategic direction and product vision.

For over a decade, Jason has championed for the advancement of agile, interconnected supply chains. As a distinguished thought leader, he has presented his vision and strategies at industry conferences around the world, serves on several industry association boards and actively advises several technology companies. In 2018, Jason was named a Finalist for EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year, in recognition of his growth-driven spirit and leadership.

Nulogy’s technology is used by some of the world’s most recognized brands to enable agility in their supplier networks. By leveraging digitalization through Nulogy to increase supply chain efficiency, responsiveness, and collaboration, brands and their supply chain networks are able to navigate today’s volatile, ever-shifting consumer landscape with flexibility, ease, and speed. Jason graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours degree in Systems Design Engineering. He currently lives in Toronto with his wife Andrea and hopes to one day teach his daughters Sophie and Ava everything he knows about triathlons and kite-surfing!

 

Akshay Kalle

Chief Technical Officer at The Pathway Group; Chief Technology Officer at Elastic Care

Akshay KalleAkshay serves as the Chief Technical Officer at Pathway Communications, an IT Solutions Provider, as well as the AI-based cardiac monitoring start-up Elastic Care. Akshay is a specialist in distributed systems and artificial intelligence. He is a business-minded systems expert with successes in managing large public technology products from conception to delivery. A fan of thinking like the customer, he combines a strong academic background and holds the unique ability to jump into both technical and customer-facing facets of product design and delivery. He has solved problems for some of the world’s leading organizations in industries ranging from banking, to transportation, and energy.

Currently, Akshay’s dual role as Chief Technology Officer in both organizations fully utilizes his deep understanding of systems design, AI and security, as well as his business acumen. With Elastic Care, Akshay now focusses on bringing disruptive technology to the healthcare sector by empowering patients and caregivers with the ability to easily monitor and proactively diagnose conditions before they become critical events.

He is actively involved with several social impact groups, including the Nexus Youth Summit, supported directly by the UN. He also sits on the boards of a select few technology organizations that have a social responsibility mandate. In his spare time, Akshay likes to spend time with his family, play music, and repeatedly lift really heavy things.

Akshay holds a Master of Science (MSc Math) and Honours Bachelor of Science (HonBSc) from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Engineering (MEng CS) from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.

Geri Yin2Geri Yin, one of the recognized leaders in Energy Solutions & Services at Alectra, has extensive experience in transmission and distribution utility companies, with a speciality in merge & acquisition, distribution rates design and application, business strategy and development. Geri and the Alectra Solutions team strive to provide innovative energy solutions to utility customers and clients, to achieve optimal level of services and energy cost savings. Most recently, Geri was appointed as the Head, Business & Financial Support of the GRE&T Centre (Green Energy & Technology Centre) at Alectra, supporting various technological innovation domains and initiatives embarked on by the GRE&T Centre.

 

 

 

 

Amit Kulkarni

Global R&D Leader for Wireless and IoT at Honeywell ACS

Amit KulkarniAmit leads a global research lab of scientists and engineers in developing innovative systems solutions for IoT using M2M protocols, low power WiFi, RF planning tools, location & tracking, RFID, cognitive radio and speech recognition for next-generation Honeywell products.
He delivered leading edge technology solutions for industrial, residential, building automation, retail and hospitality industries.
He is engaged in IoT industry standards like Industrial Internet Consortium, AllSeen Alliance and Open Interconnect Consortium (OIC) for machine to machine connectivity and driving interoperability in homes, buildings and industrial domains.
His work involves developing precise indoor location technologies for emergency responders with external contract funding and support.
He transfers low-power wireless technologies developed in the labs into successful business products. He also drives strategic initiatives in low-power fixed & mobile wireless and speech recognition technologies.

 

Tommy Sin

Purchasing Manager at Forte Mobility Co., Ltd.

Tommy SinTommy Sin is a founding executive of Forte Mobility, a new Canadian startup company specializing in design and manufacturing of modern electric vehicles in Canada. Tommy is also currently serving as PEO York Executive Board Secretary, and PEO headquarters’ Discipline Committee and Enforcement Committee.

Tommy is an automotive engineering professional since 2002 and has held various executive positions in Magna International, including General Manager in China and Executive Director in Asia. Prior to working in the automotive industry, Tommy has worked for over 13 years in the computer and hard disk drive industry globally, of which he held various executive management positions. Tommy was with Seagate Technology in Silicon Valley California and Singapore before.

Tommy is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario, and earned a Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical degree from Dalhousie University in Canada and a MBA, Finance degree from San Jose State University in USA. Tommy is also a trained six sigma black belt by Tyco Electronics.

 

 

 

 

 

Evan Bombino

Canadian Products Leader of the Global Fire Detection Products at Johnson Controls

Evan Bombino

Evan Bombino is currently the Canadian Products Leader of the Global Fire Detection Products business at Johnson Controls. JCI is a multi-industrial focusing on Service, Installation, Integration and Manufacturing of Fire Protection, HVAC, and Security systems.

Evan graduated from the Fire Systems Engineering Technologists program at Fleming College and has since attended multiple Executive Leadership programs.

Evan has 15 years in the fire protection industry with the past 11 years at Tyco/JCI. Currently, he occupies the role of VP at Canadian Fire Alarm Association - Ontario Chapter and Chair of the Fire and Life Safety Program at Durham College.

Evan has held many roles within the fire protection industry as: Fire Alarm Technician, Licensed Red Seal Sprinkler Fitter, National Service Leader, Corporate Growth and Innovation Leader, and National Sales Manager.

Evan has spent time working on various innovation teams at JCI and was the founder of the facility mapping project that was funded by Tyco’s executive team. While working on this project, Evan had the opportunity to work with many AI and AR start-ups such as Matterport, Paracosom, Xaap, Realware, Cartogram, Indoor Reality, and PlanGrid. Evan brings a wealth of knowledge to the industry in business execution and innovation.

 

Brian Lee

Director of Engineering at City of Markham

Brian LeeBrian is the Director of Engineering at the City of Markham. He has over 30 years of professional engineering experience.  Most of his career is with the public sector, and has previously worked for the Hong Kong Government, the Region of Peel, and the City of Toronto.

He has been involved in a broad range of work from writing Official Plan policies to construction.

Brian graduated from King’s College, University of London in civil engineering, and has a Masters degree from Birmingham University in highway and traffic engineering.  He is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario (York Chapter), and is the Chair of the Canadian Chapter of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

Outside work, he mentors internationally trained engineers, and has spoken extensively on this subject on different occasions.  He also enjoys travelling with his family and capturing beautiful landscape with his camera.

 

 

 

 

 

Lara O'Donnell

Director of Research Partnerships at Element AI

Lara O'DonnellLara O'Donnell is the Director of Research Partnerships at Element AI and is responsible for developing relationships and building strategic partnerships with the global research community and managing a team of researchers focused on fundamental research questions on computer vision.

Prior to joining Element AI, Lara was the Senior Director of Research at CIFAR working in partnership with international, interdisciplinary research teams to address questions of global importance. Here she was also responsible for providing research oversight, strategy and evaluation to the institute’s activities. She has also held the role of Director of the Elevate and Accelerate programs at Mitacs, two national programs focused on bringing together the academic and private sector communities on collaborative projects.

Lara completed a postdoctoral placement at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research institute and obtained her PhD in 2008 from McGill University working on DNA damage and repair.

 

 

  

Rick Omar Kazi

World Wide Industry Lead for Manufacturing and Automotive at OpenText

Rick KaziRick Omar Kazi is the World Wide Industry Lead for Manufacturing and Automotive at OpenText. He enables the global OpenText community to better serve its Manufacturing and Automotive customers. By building a deeper understanding of each type of customer in these industries, OpenText can bring forward world-class Information Management, Process Automation, Supply Chain and Analytics solutions. Rick has 7 years of experience in enterprise software and professional services delivery, as well as 10 years of experience in technology and telecommunications.

His areas of specialty include:Specialty Areas: EIM, AI, Value Engineering, DevOps, IT Operations, Automation, Hybrid Cloud Solutions.

Keivan Torabi

East Central Region Councillor at Professional Engineers Ontario

Keivan Torabi

Holder of four Chemical Engineering degrees, B.Sc., M.Sc., M.A.Sc., and Ph.D., Keivan’s diverse educational background, includes areas such as mathematical modelling, computer simulation of simultaneous momentum, heat and mass transfer in multicomponent distillation columns, quantitative FTIR polymer characterization, and application of Data Mining tools, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning technics, combined with Computer Vision, for real-time image analysis and object detection, in manufacturing.  

Keivan has more than 25 years of engineering experience in Oil & Gas and Nuclear Power Generation, and Transportation. He has worked in refineries and petrochemical plants in Middle East for 5 years, Canadian nuclear industry (CANDU) for the 19 years, and he is currently working in Transportation industry, conducting Safety, Risk and Reliability assessment for new driverless subway train automatic control signalling systems. 

Keivan has worked in Shell and Esso refineries, Ontario Power Generation Pickering and Darlington nuclear stations, Atomic Energy Canada Limited (AECL), Candu Energy (SNC-Lavalin), AMEC, and currently at Thales Group (Transportations).

Keivan was a seasonal instructor at the University of Toronto and the Ryerson University, teaching Polymer Processing and Plastics Engineering, between 2004 and 2007.

 

 

Tuhin Banerjee

Head of Advanced Systems at Woodgrove Technologies

Tuhin BanerjeeTuhin Banerjee has a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of British Columbia. He started off his career in modeling and simulation and process control in Vancouver. Yearning for some hands on industrial experience, he ventured into the mineral processing world – working with Barrick Gold as part of the commissioning team at Barrick’s flagship Pueblo Viejo operation in the Dominican Republic. It was there that he developed his passion for mineral processing. After Barrick, he joined Portage Technologies (now Woodgrove) where he was able to merge his passions for modeling, control and mineral processing to help transform the mining industry leveraging  technology. As the head of advanced systems at Woodgrove Technologies, Tuhin is responsible for overseeing plant optimization projects across the globe. His project portfolio spans over 50 plants spanning 5 continents. While not solving the world’s mineral processing challenges, Tuhin enjoys  music, cooking, spending time with his family, being a good “dog dad” – and as of 3 months ago, being a new dad to his daughter Eve!

Jennifer Doctor

Jennifer Doctor is the Senior Director of Product Management for Johnson Controls, Tyco’s’ Intrusion detection portfolio. In this capacity, Jennifer leads a global team managing more than 5,000 traditional and smart home security products around the globe in both residential and commercial markets.
Jennifer joined Johnson Controls from ADT North America where she was the Director of Product Strategy. She brings more than 20 years of experience in product marketing and product management to Johnson Controls, having worked with companies to help them bring products to market profitably. In addition to her unique blend of product management, product marketing and marketing skills, Jennifer also brings IT skills, including ITIL CMMi, and Agile knowledge and experience to her work.

Godwin Chan

Councillor at City of Richmond Hill

Godwin Chan

First elected in 2006, Councillor Godwin Chan, a lawyer by profession, has provided community leadership in a wide range of areas, including policing, education, public health and road safety for over two decades. Presently serving his fourth term of office in the City of Richmond Hill, he chairs the Economic Development Committee and the Park Steering Committee for the David Dunlap Observatory, recently named as a National Historic Site in Canada.


As the Chair of Richmond Hill's Gridlock Task Force (2007-2008), Councillor Chan worked actively to promote the extension of Yonge subway to Richmond Hill Centre at Highway 7 as the Union Station of the North.


Councillor Chan has been elected by municipal peers to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' (FCM) Board of Directors since 2013. In his capacity as FCM Director, Councillor Chan calls for a National Transit Strategy in Canada, and lobbies for Federal investment in public transit under the Building Canada Fund, and Investing in Canada Infrastructure Plan.

He is also the President and Creative Director of The Justin Poy Agency, an award-winning advertising agency established in 1993. As a supporter of culture and charitable organizations in Canada, he has received the Queen’s Gold and Diamond Jubilee Medals and has been recognized by Ryerson University and The Toronto French School as Alumni of Distinction. Allen Hess

Allen Hess

Allen is responsible for leading the Ontario new sales pursuit team at Honeywell Building Solutions. He is based out of the Markham office and manages sales across the province. He has 30 years of experience in the low voltage building technology industry having performed in all capacities found within a buildings technology branch organization including field technical services, project management, engineering and design, sales, service, and related leadership roles. He has the unique experience of having in depth experience in selling, delivering and servicing most key building technologies.

Fawn Annan

President and Chief Marketing Officer at IT World Canada

Fawn AnnanFawn Annan is the President, Chief Marketing Officer and Group Publisher of IT World Canada/IDG Canada. She is also partner and CMO for Amazing! Agency, a content agency located in Haliburton, Ontario.

Ms. Annan joined IT World in 1995 as General Manager, Executive Programs, launching the publishing enterprise into C-level events and research projects. In 2008 she was promoted to Chief Strategy Officer, helping IT World navigate the turmoil that was descending upon the print industry. A few years later in 2010, she assumed the role of President. In 2014, Ms. Annan invested as a shareholder in IT World Canada and in 2018 assumes the legal position of Chairman of the Board.

Ms. Annan is Chair of the Canadian Channel Chiefs Council, sits on the Ontario Board of the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) and is Vice-Chair on the national board of Canadian Women in Communications and Technology (WCT) as well as part of the Advisory Council for CATA (Canadian Advanced Technology Association).

Ms. Annan has operated her own business and held senior positions in marketing and strategy with a variety of firms. In 2012 she received the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Award for her contribution to the IT industry. In 2017 she was awarded the MISA/ASIM Dennis Steen Award and the RBC/CATA Sara Kirke Award for Entrepreneurship and Innovation recognizing her contributions to the industry.

She received her education in Canada, attending York University, studying Communications and Business. She also studied at Boston’s famous Babson College which houses the IDG Publishing Institute. Ms Annan believes in life-long education, recently having finished her MBA in Media Leadership and Sustainability from Cumbria University in Northern England.
