Ontario Building Code – HVAC Building Permit Review
Date: Monday, November 25, 2019, 6:30pm to 9:30pm
Location: Courtyard Toronto Markham, 65 Minthorn Blvd, Thornhill, Ontario
Other than the specific requirements indicated in Ontario Building Code, the building code also refers to many standards for best engineering practice. This seminar will discuss about what an examiner looks for in a mechanical plan when reviewing the building permit application. The speaker will indicate and explain the common problems found in mechanical systems. These problems are normally found in the design of ventilation system and air distribution system. Coordination issues have also been found between HVAC services and the architectural design in areas such as public corridor, exit, and exit-through lobby. Duct insulation requirements may sometimes be confusing. After the presentation, attendees will clearly understand the definition of conditioned, semi-conditioned, and non-conditioned space needs. As per the energy efficiency requirements in the new code, energy efficiency design verification is necessary. Energy efficiency design is divided in three parts: building envelope, mechanical and electrical. Proper coordination between all the three parties is essential.
