Apotex is an independent Canadian pharmaceutical company committed to R&D, manufacturing and distributing a broad range of high quality, affordable medicines to patients, healthcare providers and governments worldwide.

Apotex’s Richmond Hill facility is devoted to the development and manufacture of sterile and non-sterile liquid products, supplying Canadian, U.S. and international markets. Key dosage forms include ophthalmic drops, nasal sprays and oral solutions. Full R&D capability for liquid dose products is also present at the Richmond Hill facility. Both aseptically filled and terminally sterilized products are produced within isolator units. The plant consists of GMP production space, compounding equipment and laboratories for R&D and product testing.

The Richmond Hill site has over 700 skilled scientists and engineers. Engineering activities include capital project management, production support and validation of equipment and facility changes, new product launch and building systems support.

This 1.5 hour tour will take you inside this pharmaceutical manufacturing facility where you will learn about the manufacturing process, the safety systems (such as airflow systems to avoid contamination), sterile and non-sterile manufactuirng, R&D and warehouse facilities, fixed and mobile manufacturing. Visitors will see how Apotex develops, produces, fills, packages and QA's pharmaceutical products.

This tour is expected to fill up quickly so sign up ASAP if interested. Only PEO members (license holders and EITs) may attend.

Note: Apotex does not charge for tours. All proceeds from this event will be used to fund and enhance Chapter activities. PEO York Chapter is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers.
