Engineers are often engaged by owners to conduct assessments of buildings and structures. This two-hour presentation will provide a brief introduction to the steps required to conduct a building condition assessment, including methods of evaluation, reporting, and some interesting case studies.
Our speaker is Mr. Martin Gerskup, B. Arch., OAA, MAIBC, MRAIC, is the Principle and founder of BEST. He has spent the last 30 years specializing in the theory and practice of Building Science. Martin is Past-President and Director of the Ontario Building Envelope Council (OBEC), past member of the Canadian National Standard for Masonry Construction for Buildings (CSA A371), was a member of Council for the Ontario Architects Association from 2003 to 2005 and is presently a member of the ULC Committee on Thermal Insulation Materials and Systems. He has taught at the University of Toronto Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design and for the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Ryerson University in Toronto. Martin has worked on projects for the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, City of Toronto, City of London, City of Mississauga, City of St. Catharines, City of Windsor, and Region of York.
