Event Information:
Some studies have reported that only a little more than 50% of concrete repairs completed are performing satisfactorily. Corrosion is one of the largest costs to the economy, and concrete industry is a major CO2 emitter. How to perform sustainable concrete repairs to meet asset owner’s objective is the key to save costs and reduce CO2 emission in the long run. This presents challenges and huge opportunities to engineers and contractors.
This seminar will first briefly introduce ACI 562; the concrete repair code and corrosion evaluation technologies. Then, the presenter will detail the proper concrete repair techniques and corrosion mitigation solution to achieve sustainable concrete repairs and extend the service life of the concrete structures.

Liao Haixue, P.Eng., PE, CP Specialist
Regional Manager, Vector Restoration Ltd.
Liao Haixue is a professional engineer registered in Ontario and New York in the US. He is a qualified presenter for American National Council of Structural Engineers Associations, certified continuing education program, “Evaluation, Repair, Protection and Strengthening of Existing Concrete Structures”.
He is a AMPP certified cathodic protection specialist, with extensive experience in reinforced concrete evaluation, repair, strengthening and protection. He also has more than 25 years of experience in post-tensioning installation, evaluation and rehabilitation. Liao is a committee member of Post-Tensioning Institute CRT60, DC55 and DC80. He is also the president of Canada Structural Engineers Association.
