A Transportation Engineer’s Perspective on GTA Congestion Hotspots

Event Information:


Everybody is an “expert” about traffic, but do you know the reasons why there is always congestion at hotpots like on the Hwy 404 near Sixteenth Avenue? Joseph will dissect some of the factors causing the congestion along the roadways within the GTA and provide his engineering assessment on the causes.

Our Guest Speaker:

Joseph Gowrie, P.Eng.

Manager of Transportation & Planning, Safe Roads Engineering


Joseph has 15 years of transportation planning and operations experience for both private and municipal clients. He has a broad range of experience on master plans, transportation operations assessments, road safety, parking studies, traffic impact studies, transportation demand management plans, and policy development.


In addition to his engineering work, Joseph taught the Highway Design course, and developed the curriculum and taught the Introduction to Transportation Planning at Seneca College. The course was designed to teach the fundamental principles of Transportation Planning and provide an introduction to workplace tools, practices and data.
