On the December 10, 2011, PEO York Chapter members, friends and family hit the lanes for an exciting afternoon of bowling. We tested Newton's laws of motion and examined the dynamics of bowling. Experiments were conducted with various velocity, rotation, and angles of throwing a bowling ball in order to achieve best score. Best of all, we had the opportunity to network and got to know each other while having fun.

The Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) York Chapter organized the AMD Mathletics Competition on Nov 19, 2011. Over 80 bright young minds from across York Region came together in Richmond Hill High School to compete head to head with each other for fun and prizes. The competition was split into two levels - junior, up to Grade 6, and senior, Grades 7 and 8 - with two rounds of questions.

AMD logoMathletics is a competition designed to create a passion in the application of mathematics in solving day-to-day scientific and engineering problems. Students will be challenged to be active and creative in the use of mathematics. Different facets of mathematics will be introduced and tested.

As a member of the PEO York Chapter, you are invited to partake in an exciting opportunity to develop the minds of future engineers of Canada.

The “Engineer in the Classroom” (EIC) program brings engineers into York Region elementary school classrooms. Through this satisfying experience, you will bring real-world working knowledge to enhance the teaching of science, technology and mathematics.

EIT Engineering Experience Seminar PDF Print E-mail

One of the requirements to become a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) is to be able to demonstrate 48 months of verifiable and acceptable engineering experience following graduation. On June 4th the PEO York Chapter held a seminar for EITs to assist them in preparation of their Engineer Experience Records.

EITs were required to prepare their Engineer Experience Record for the event. They were able to obtain valuable feedback by drawing from the expertise of the P.Eng volunteers.
