robotic-surgeryCome learn about the exciting and growing industry of surgical robotics. Surgical robots enable surgeons to perform complex minimally invasive surgeries with improved patient outcomes. With the da Vinci Surgical System, surgeons operate through just a few small incisions. The da Vinci System features a magnified 3D high-definition vision system and tiny wristed instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human wrist. As a result, da Vinci enables your surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity and control.

Minimally invasive da Vinci uses the latest in surgical and robotics technologies. da Vinci is beneficial for performing routine and complex surgery. Your surgeon is 100% in control of the da Vinci System, which translates his or her hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside your body. da Vinci – taking surgery beyond the limits of the human hand.

speaker-alex-furseAlex Furse, P.Eng. completed a BASc in mechanical engineering and a MHSc in clinical engineering at the University of Toronto. Alex’s past experience includes developing prosthetic technologies at Bloorview Kids Rehab and advancing a minimally invasive thermal ablation device for cancer at Princess Margaret Hospital. Alex currently works at Minogue Medical as field engineer and clinical support national team manager involved in the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of the da Vinci surgical robotic system. His team is also responsible for the training of surgeons and nurses in Canada and operating room procedure support. He also has a number of publications in several engineering and medical journals.

It is Burger Night at the Pub and with the purchase of a beverage, the Chapter will buy you a hamburger. Networking and socializing encouraged.
*Note: Please drink responsibly and arrange for a safe ride home
