Licensure Assistance Program (LAP)
The Licensure Assistance Program (LAP) matches EITs to P.Eng. guides who provide valuable advice and experience to assist them towards their goal of obtaining a P.Eng. license. This includes insight into licensing requirements, ethical practices, leadership development and advice on obtaining and reporting acceptable engineering work experience. These are all topics which licensed engineers are knowledgeable about.
These one to one relationships typically require 2 hours per month of casual meetings arranged between the guide and EIT at their convenience. The LAP runs for a period of six months.
Guides often find that the LAP provided them with a valuable opportunity to reflect on their career, development and future goals. It provides an opportunity for networking and can be a positive and rewarding experience for all involved. Above all you can make a difference:
My LAP experience was excellent and honestly exceed my expectation. My guide helped me a lot with my license process and every time I met him I came back from the meeting with full professional confidence and peace of mind for the next step. I thank my guide for his generous time and efforts. I strongly recommend the program and in addition I would volunteer my time in the future as a guide to help other EITs.
